BATON ROUGE- "We are better if we work together," that's the Emerge Center's central message. It was founded back in 1960 as a treatment center for children who had gone deaf from Rubella.
In the 1980s the center introduced a program for children with Autism and other social delays. Today, the center continues to offer therapeutic programs and services to children with communication and social interaction disabilities.
The Battle Against Autism is a series of events that raise money for the Emerge Center, formerly known as the Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation.
This year the BAA's focus is shifting to raise money for the New Emerge Center for Communication, Behavior and Development, the larger facility that opened in 2014.
The Battle Against Autism Golf tournament will be held on Monday, September 21st at the Country Club of Louisiana.
