SHREVEPORT, La. (AP) — A 22-year-old Louisiana man accused of shooting a teenager to death outside a shopping mall is being held on a $350,000 bond.

Treyvious Dejuan Dotie, of Shreveport, was arrested Saturday shortly after Bryan Theus, 19, died at Ochsner LSU Health. Dotie is being held at the Caddo Correctional Center on one count of second-degree murder, news outlets reported. It was unknown if he has an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

The shooting happened just before 3 p.m. Saturday at Mall St. Vincent in Shreveport. Responding officers found Theus outside the east entry of Dillard’s with multiple gunshot wounds.

The confrontation began inside the department store, police said. Theus and Dotie exchanged words then Theus followed Dotie outside, according to a police report. Theus “... was ready to fight” and Dotie pulled a gun and shot Theus several times, police said.

According to multiple witnesses and video of the altercation, Dotie “shot the victim multiple times shortly after he walked out of the store. He then came back toward the injured man and shot him several more times as he lay on the ground.”

Investigators recovered a handgun and shell casings at the scene.

Sgt. Angie Willhite said investigators believe the men knew each other. There’s no word on what sparked the altercation.

“There was a young adult victim and I’m heartbroken. A shopping trip on a holiday weekend turned tragic. We as a community have to take care of one another. We will argue, disagree, but we cannot resort to these types of senseless acts of violence,″ Mayor Adrian Perkins wrote in a social media post.
