MAUREPAS- The Livingston Parish Sheriff's Office arrested three people after a body was found Tuesday.

According to Sheriff Jason Ard, the body of 19-year-old Emily Rodgers of Ponchatoula was found Tuesday around 12:00 p.m. in a wooded area off of Catfish Landing Road.

The investigation began after a missing persons report was filed on Feb. 9. Ard says foul play was "immediately suspected because of conflicting stories from those close to the investigation."

Authorities arrested John Cowart, 35, Justin Scivique, 33, and Derek Williford, 28, for their involvement in the crime.

"I can tell you that we believe John Cowart ended Emily’s life. Others helped hide this fact. The motive is unclear at this time. We expect to learn a lot more about what led to Emily’s death pending an autopsy," Sheriff Ard said in a release.

The case remains under investigation.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
