BATON ROUGE - A man has been arrested in a deadly, year-old shooting at an apartment complex along Burbank Drive.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened Jan. 5, 2019, at The Armstrong apartments at 4600 Burbank Drive.

Deputies said 22-year-old Anferenee James Holden was shot outside of an apartment. He was transported to a local hospital where he later died as a result of his injuries.

On Monday, the sheriff's office announced the arrest of 22-year-old Richard Jiles, Jr. Jiles is charged as a principal to second-degree murder, suggesting he is not the triggerman in the killing.

Arrest documents suggest Jiles' vehicle had followed the victim from the complex earlier that night and followed him and his girlfriend back to the complex before the attack. Investigators used surveillance video to place Jiles' vehicle at the scene and cellular data showed he was in the area of the shooting that night.

Investigators also learned the victim and two others were "breaking pounds of marijuana" at one of the apartments prior to the shooting, but deputies didn't say whether drugs played a role in the murder.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Sheriff's Office at 225-389-5000.
