Man accused of killing Ja'Derrius Minnieweather facing new sex crime charges

BATON ROUGE — The man accused of killing Ja'Derrius Minnieweather is now facing charges of forcible rape, trafficking and indecent behavior with a juvenile, according to an affidavit.
The arrest warrant says the victim described three instances to police when Maurice Parms, 51, had sex with her. The victim also stated that Parms knew she was 16.
Police were investigating the disappearance of Ja'Derrius Minnieweather, 15, when they came into contact with the victim. After searching her phone, police found messages between her and Maurice Parms as well as Cash App payments for food and other necessities from Parms to the girl.
According to the arrest warrant, the victim said Parms allegedly commented that he would keep helping her if she kept helping him, which she believed meant that he would continue giving her money as long as he did the sexual things he requested.
Maurice Parms was already in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for the death of Ja'Derrius Minnieweather. The search at the Baton Rouge landfill for the body of Minnieweather entered its fifth week on Monday.
