Fans' Choice Winner Week 11: Keilon Brown
As only a sophomore, Zachary quarterback Keilon Brown has become a staple of an electric Broncos offense.
"He can change a scoreboard pretty quick," said head coach David Brewerton.
"Last year I was a freshman, I didn't know what was going on," admitted Brown. I had to get used to the speed of the game. This year now that I've had the exposure I can move faster."
With two full regular seasons of starts under his belt, Brown is now focused on the mission ahead.
Make a run at the dome and bring home another 5A state title.
"Coach Brew says it before every game, play at a high level, play with intensity and set the tone early," said Brown.
So far this season Brown has piled up ridiculous numbers on offense.
Through 11 games he's racked up 32 total touchdowns, nearly 1,600 yards passing and he's also rushed for another 791 yards.
"He can hurt you both ways, I think he's thrown for 16 scores and run for 16 scores, so he's truly right there with both of them," Brewerton said.
At only 15-years-old Brown has already drawn comparisons to former LSU and Zachary standout quarterback Lindsey Scott Jr. who led the Broncos to a 5A state title in 2015.
"They're both dynamic players who can make plays with both their arms and their legs," said Brewerton.
"Lindsey be giving me some pretty good advice about leading the team and just staying positive and leading a team to another championship," Brown said.
With two more years of high school left, the opportunity for Brown to create his own history and become one of Louisiana's best duel-threat quarterbacks is right there for the taking.
