ST. FRANCISVILLE — West Feliciana District Attorney Sam D'Aquilla is set to step down Thursday as he prepares to become a judge.

D'Aquilla ran for Division B judge in the 20th Judicial District unopposed, meaning he won. The 20th Judicial District covers both East and West Feliciana parishes.

D'Aquilla, 61, was first elected as the district attorney for the 20th Judicial District in 2002. 

Prosecutor Bruce Dodd is set to be sworn in as the interim district attorney on Thursday, Oct. 1. Ken Fabre, who is running as a "no party" candidate and Cy D’Aquilla, who is running as a Republican, are vying for the office.

The election is Nov. 3.
