We have now gone three weeks without a single drop of rain in the Capital Area, but that could soon change. This Halloween weekend, increasing moisture will lead to higher humidity, and the return of rain.

Today & Tonight: After another cool morning start where jackets are a good idea, we will warm into the lower 80s by this afternoon. Just like yesterday, higher-level clouds will filter sunshine at times. The air will stay dry, and there is no chance of rain. Overnight, we will see passing clouds, with lows in the mid-50s.

Up Next: Clouds will thin a bit through the end of the workweek, increasing highs into the mid-80s. Lows will stay cool enough that jackets will still be needed in the early morning hours. Friday, into this Halloween weekend, moisture in our atmosphere will increase quite a bit. This will cause lows to rise into the mid-60s, the air to feel more sticky, and the return of rain. Halloween day is when rain looks to be most likely, but there are still some uncertainties. More specifically, the exact rain coverage and timing are still in question. This will get more refined in the coming days as higher-resolution models get into range. As of now, do not cancel any Halloween plans, just pay close attention to the Storm Station forecast.
