Chilly mornings and comfortably warm afternoons will remain the status quo for much of the upcoming week. However, returning moisture takes aim at next weekend, right around Halloween. Because of that, a rain chance has officially joined the Storm Station 7-Day Forecast.

Tonight & Tomorrow: Temperatures will tumble fast after sunset, landing in the lower 50s on Sunday morning. Don't get too attached to that morning jacket, though, as temperatures will rebound fast. Afternoon highs will bounce right back into the low-to-mid 80s under a mixture of sun and high clouds. Persistent dry air and parched vegetation continue to drive up the fire weather danger, making it easier for grass fires to ignite. Multiple parishes and counties have issued burn bans in response, so please adhere to those to help. Fortunately, a slight bump in humidity will help ease the threat Sunday into next week.

Up Next: Little variety is in store for most of next week. Expect a steady routine: chilly mornings in the 50s giving way to afternoon highs consistently in the low to mid-80s. Passing high clouds will filter through from time to time, but persistent dry air near the surface will keep rain out of the forecast, allowing drought conditions to worsen.

Early signs suggest moisture returns to the Capital Area toward next weekend, opening the door for some much-needed rain. Halloween looks warm and slightly muggy, which could trigger a few isolated showers and thunderstorms. While specific details will get ironed out over the coming week, this marks the first legitimate rain chance in quite some time. Stay with the Storm Station throughout the week as new data rolls in.
