AG: Louisiana police chief, former assistant chief arrested for wiping department computers
MANGHAM - The police chief and former assistant chief in Mangham were arrested for allegedly hiding documents and wiping department computers.
Murrill said the pair, Chief Perry Fleming and former Assistant Police Chief Dakota McKinney, worked together to move police reports, arrest records, warrants, and other public documents to an external hard drive before a Mangham Police Department computer was removed and put through a factory reset.
The investigation also found that the department collected more than $6,400 on behalf of the family of a fallen officer. The AG says family members never received the money and it was spent on Fleming’s travel to Washington, D.C., for National Police Week.
Murrill said three of the fallen officer's adult children attended the same event, but had to pay their own way.
