INDEPENDENCE — The town of Independence's City Hall is experiencing an internet and phone outage on Monday afternoon, local officials announced online.

"We are working diligently to get everything up and running. We apologize for any inconvenience," officials wrote on social media. 

Located off Interstate 55 in Tangipahoa Parish, the town of Independence has a population of about 1,635 people, according to the U.S. Census.
