Teen charged in December murder to be tried as an adult
BATON ROUGE - A teenager accused of murdering another person late last year is being charged as an adult in the killing.
Court documents identified the alleged killer as 17-year-old Dayln Hynard, who was arrested in late February. He was 16 years old at the time of the shooting.
Police said 19-year-old Charvon Johnson was found shot Dec. 8 on Jackson Avenue. He was transported to the hospital where he later died.
Court documents obtained Tuesday stated that Hynard would be moved to the parish jail as he awaits trial in adult court.
He faces charges of second-degree murder, possession of a handgun by a juvenile and illegal use of a weapon.
