Sunshine and warmer temperatures are returning to the Capital Region, with highs approaching 90 degrees today and more summer-like weather expected through the workweek. A cold front late Friday should bring some relief by next weekend, although the chance for meaningful rain remains very low.

Today and Tonight:  Expect plenty of sunshine across Baton Rouge and the Capital Region today, with afternoon highs climbing toward 90 degrees. Drier air will help keep the humidity more comfortable, and mostly clear skies will allow temperatures to fall into the 60s tonight.

Up Next: High pressure will keep the weather sunny and unusually warm through Friday. Highs will generally run about 10 degrees above normal, with some locations reaching 90 degrees on several days. Rain chances will remain near zero.

A cold front is expected to move through Friday night, bringing cooler weather for next weekend. How much temperatures fall is still uncertain, but highs could settle into the 70s by Sunday. The front won't have much moisture to work with, so don't count on it bringing much-needed rain.

Tropics: The National Hurricane Center is monitoring a disorganized area of showers and thunderstorms in the eastern tropical Atlantic, southwest of the Cabo Verde Islands. Development chances remain low at 20% over the next two days and through the next week, with stronger upper-level winds expected to limit development by midweek.
