After Hurricane Isaias made landfall Friday evening as a Category 2 storm, the National Hurricane Center has discontinued all warnings and advisories as of Saturday morning. A pleasant weekend ahead, although it will be warm by October standards.

Tonight & Tomorrow: Tropical weather is settling down east of the area. If any showers were to develop this morning, they should be brief, with most communities staying dry as clouds gradually break and temperatures climb into the upper 80s.

Winds will continue to ease today, and a mostly clear, calm night is expected. Cooler, drier air will settle in, allowing overnight temperatures to drop into the 50s in some areas north of Baton Rouge, while readings closer to the city should remain in the 60s.

Up Next: Sunday turns warmer, with highs approaching 90 degrees under mostly sunny skies. High pressure will keep conditions mainly dry through much of next week, and afternoon temperatures could reach the lower 90s by Monday and Tuesday, with the heat potentially continuing through Thursday.

Despite it being October, the weather will feel more like late summer. A front may approach next weekend, but meaningful rainfall is not currently expected with its arrival. Still hoping for some fall like temperatures.

College Football on the Road: Rain associated with the remnants of Isaias will be moving in for LSU's game against Kentucky in Lexington. Chilly conditions are expected (by Louisiana standards). Lots of clouds and rain during tailgating. Hopefully some improvements by the end of the game. Southern, meanwhile will enjoy sunshine and relatively warm temperatures in Texas. Highs will run near 90. Good luck to both teams.

The Tropics: Destin, Florida, took a direct hit from Hurricane Isaias, making landfall in the area at 8:30 p.m. Friday. After a short stint as a Category 3 hurricane, wind shear was able to battle the storm before landfall. This brought Isaias down to Category 2 strength prior to landfall. Nevertheless, the region was not spared from significant impacts, which included life-threatening storm surge, damaging winds, inland flooding, and tornadoes. All current watches, warnings, and advisories have been discontinued.

The remnants of Isaias will push north through the weekend, bringing rain into Kentucky that could impact LSU’s road matchup against the Wildcats.
