STPSO: One dead in deputy-involved shooting following domestic hostage situation
ST. TAMMANY - One man was shot by Sheriff's deputies following a hostage situation that occurred at a Hickory-area home Saturday night.
According to the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the 37000 block of Hollifield Lane shortly before 10:00 p.m.
A man was reportedly shooting a gun inside the home while holding a female hostage, according to the Sheriff's Office.
When deputies arrived at the scene, the suspect exited the residence with the gun and pointed it at deputies.
As a result, deputies fired their weapons, killing the suspect on scene, according to the Sheriff's Office. No other injuries were reported.
The deputies involved in the shooting have been placed on temporary leave pending an investigation.
