BATON ROUGE – It has been a week since displaced residents were moved from the now closed shelter at the River Center to Celtic Studios off of Airline Highway. However, residents are still trying to get back on their feet.

Inside Celtic's Stage 5 studio case workers are still trying to find homes for the remaining displaced victims.

"We are discussing their plans to make sure they have that next place to stay, but as we have been saying over the past few days, every one of them has challenges and opportunities," Robert Baltodano, of the Red Cross, said.

For some, leaving the shelter is a struggle as many can not find a job and permanent homes, especially with a competitive rental market.

"I have to find a job, I have to. My wife, she has one coming, and if I get a job, we can get out here quicker," Brian Walker, flood victim at the shelter, said.

Walker said that he has found a place to live, but now he is hoping to find a job to help his family afford to leave the shelter.

"They will pay the deposit, we just have to come up with the rent," Walker said.

Walker said he and his family will remain in the shelter at Celtic Studios for now. He said that he is grateful he and his family have a place to stay, especially for the sake of his baby.

"It's hard, it's difficult. Him meeting other people, being around, he isn't used to it. By the grace of the Lord, we shall overcome," Walker said.
