BATON ROUGE — The Southern University Jaguars kick off their football season this weekend on the road against the Alabama State Hornets. 

Saturday's game will be the first time the Jags will be led on the field by head coach Marshall Faulk. Faulk, a former NFL running back, was hired by Southern in 2025 after the firing of Terrence Graves following a 1-6 start to last season.

Ahead of Saturday's 2 p.m. game in Montgomery, Faulk is expected to provide an update on the team's preparations after Tuesday morning's practice. WBRZ plans to stream Faulk's remarks around 12:30 p.m.
