Firefighters put out SUV on fire at levee as manhunt continues
BATON ROUGE - A manhunt remains underway for a man who bailed out of his vehicle at the end of a police pursuit near the Mississippi River early Tuesday afternoon.
Multiple law enforcement agencies were on the scene by land, water and air to look for the suspect at the intersection of River Road and McKinley Street.
Firefighters were called to the scene to put out the flames that engulfed an abandoned vehicle near the center of the search efforts.
Police said the chase began at Highland Road and Nicholson Extension on LSU's campus with LSU Campus Police involved in the pursuit that followed.
