LIVINGSTON — A Denham Springs man was arrested on Saturday for allegedly molesting a child and having child sexual abuse material. 

Charles Frank Nickel Jr., 58, was arrested by Washington Parish Sheriff's deputies on charges of molestation of a juvenile under the age of 13, incest and indecent behavior with a juvenile. 

Following his arrest, Nickel admitted to crimes of sexual abuse and to having child sexual abuse material, according to the Washington Parish Sheriff's Office. After this admission, the information was turned over to the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force of the Livingston Parish Sheriff.  Deputies then searched Nickel's home and seized multiple computers and electronic storage devices they say contain CSAM. 

The arrest was made following an investigation that began in 2018 when police received a complaint from an adult victim of sexual battery that occurred when she was a child. 

The case was reopened in April of 2026 by the Special Investigations Unit of the Washington Parish Sheriff.
