Angola inmate dies after fight in prison dorm; investigation underway
WEST FELICIANA PARISH - An inmate is dead after a fight at the Louisiana State Penitentiary Sunday morning.
According to an Angola spokesperson, 58-year-old Dolan Franklin was taken off life support Monday afternoon.
Franklin was one of two inmates involved in a fight in the prison dorms around 5 o'clock Monday morning. He was rushed to a Baton Rouge hospital, where he remained in intensive care until Monday afternoon.
The other inmate involved, 40-year-old Robert Clark, was placed in administrative lockdown at the prison.
Charges are pending depending on the outcome of the investigation.
