Alabama Governor's wife of 50 years files for divorce
MONTGOMERY - The Governor of Alabama and his wife are calling it quits after 50 years of marriage.
The Alabama first lady Dianne Bentley filed for divorce Friday. Gov. Robert Bentley says their marriage has suffered an "irretrievable breakdown."
The complaint states attempts to reconcile are futile, and the couple has been living separately since January.
Dianne Bentley's lawyer wrote that her client says "There is such a complete imcompatibility of temperment that the parties can no longer live together."
The Bentleys have been married since 1965 and have four adult sons. Their 50th wedding anniversary just passed in July.
