Mobile home moved after 2 On Your Side story
BATON ROUGE - A flood victim is happy she called 2 On Your Side. Judy Brouillette's mobile home was stuck in the mud after the man she hired to move it, left it here.
McCants Mobile Homes saw the story and came to the rescue.
"I've waited so long, I am so happy," said Brouillette.
Last September, Brouillette bought a mobile home after hers took on about a foot and a half of water. The new home was on the other side of town and needed to be moved. The man she hired to move it, Amos Seals, attempted to do the job but the mobile home got stuck. Turns out, an axle broke and a welder was needed to make repairs.
Brouillette paid him $3,000, money she was awarded by FEMA. The trailer was moved about 20 ft. and left hanging over the side of the road. After multiple calls and text messages to Seals, Brouillette says she was unsuccessful in contacting him.
After our May 2 On Your Side story aired on WBRZ News Two at 5, a handful of people reached out to help Brouillette. McCants Mobile Homes heard about what happened and reached out. The company called a welder to fix the damage and replaced the broken axle. It then moved the trailer to Brouillette's lot in Central free of charge.
"I really can't thank Ms. McCants enough," she said. "I'm really happy I called Channel 2."
This flood victim is grateful for a fresh start and ready to start rebuilding. She hopes to be moved into her new home, by next week.
