BATON ROUGE - One man's muscle car was stolen from a Baton Rouge automotive shop. After reviewing the surveillance video he called 2 On Your Side hoping to identify the people responsible.

Audrey Vanner's 1986 Monte Carlo was a gift from his grandfather. Vanner invested a lot of money into fixing it up and planned to give it to his son as a graduation gift. That is until someone stole it from a mechanic shop.

"They came straight for that car, they knew what they were doing," said Vanner.

For the past few months, Vanner's Monte Carlo has been at Fisher's Automotive waiting on a part. The car does not run. On the night of September 3, a surveillance camera captured a truck hauling a trailer backing up to a gate. Sparks fly as someone works to saw off the lock.

The thieves were inside the gate within a minute and went straight to Vanner's car, which was unusually parked outside for the night underneath an overhang.

Two people push the car in reverse and onto a trailer, then drive away. The whole thing took about ten minutes.

"A lot of it seems suspicious to me," he said. 

Vanner believes someone knew his car was there, with the keys inside. What really bothers Vanner about the situation is that he called to check on his car on September 9, five days after it was stolen. That's when he was told the bad news.

Vick Fisher of Fisher's Automotive says they were unable to reach Vanner by phone, but filed a police report the next morning. It had been missing for five days, but was found within an hour of Vanner posting a picture of it to his social media. 

The car was stripped down to the carpet. Everything Vanner put into the car has been removed. He's upset and wants to find who is responsible for taking his car and stripping it for parts.

Fisher agrees, whoever took the car knew it wasn't driveable, which is why they came with a trailer. Vanner plans to file a claim through their insurance.
