Marcelle announces mayoral run
BATON ROUGE - State Representative and former Metro Councilwoman C. Denise Marcelle announced she will be running for EBR Mayor-President this fall in a press release issued Tuesday evening.
In a statement, Marcelle says she made the decision after "being encouraged by many citizens from all areas of the parish".
Marcelle will make an official announcement Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Baton Rouge Marriott.
Marcelle is the 8th person to announce their candidacy, joining State Senator Sharon Weston Broome, State Senator Bodi White, Metro Councilman John Delgado, former Southern Athletic Director Greg Lafleur, former Metro Councilmember Byron Sharper and businessman Darryl Gissel.
