Louisiana kicks off waterway litter cleanup with more than 260 events in September
BATON ROUGE — Lt. Gov. Bill Nungesser and Keep Louisiana Beautiful have kicked off a month-long initiative to clean up waterways across Louisiana.
Called "Love Our Waterways," the effort is the state's first cleanup aimed at tackling litter and debris in rivers, lakes and shorelines. It was inspired by Love the Boot Week.
Throughout September, Louisiana residents are encouraged to get involved. Buckets will be given out at boat landings across the state, allowing people to collect trash while out on the water.
