MOREAUVILLE, La. - Recent floods in Louisiana have forced a Moreauville dairy to close after 15 years in business.

The Advertiser reports that WesMar Family Farm is ceasing operations because floodwaters impacted their goats' feeding routine, making them unable to produce milk.

The farm's owner, Marguerite Constantine, says floodwater remained on the pasture for weeks following August's floods, and prevented their 50 dairy goats from feeding. She says her family had no choice but to end production.

Another small produce farm in St. Francisville plans to purchase WesMar's equipment and partner with local goat farmers to dairy products in the coming months.

Constantine says she and her husband will continue to raise goats and sell produce.
