JACKSON — Deputies with the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff's Office have terminated the search for a motorcyclist who abandoned their vehicle during a pursuit in the area of La. 19 and La. 956 on Friday morning. 

According to the sheriff's office, around 7:07 a.m., deputies observed the motorcyclist speeding before attempting to make a traffic stop. Deputies said the operator of the vehicle abandoned the motorcycle and fled on foot, with deputies currently searching in the area of La. 19 and La. 956 near Highway 19. 

While the motorcycle operator has not been located, police have taken his motorcycle, helmet, jacket and gloves containing his DNA into evidence.
