Baton Rouge Magnet High ranks among top 1% of high schools nationally in 2026-27
BATON ROUGE — Baton Rouge Magnet High School has earned the No. 1 ranking among high schools in the region, No. 6 in the state and No. 209 nationally in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings for 2026-2027.
Liberty Magnet High School also landed among Louisiana's top public high schools, coming in at No. 12 in the state and No. 1,320 nationally.
Baton Rouge High is one of only nine public schools in Louisiana to rank among the top 1,000 schools nationwide. U.S. News evaluated nearly 18,000 schools in total.
"Congratulations to the students, educators, families and school leaders at Baton Rouge Magnet High School and Liberty Magnet High School on this tremendous recognition," Superintendent LaMont Cole said in a prepared statement. "These rankings are a reflection of the hard work, high expectations and commitment to excellence that define our schools."
"To have Baton Rouge Magnet High ranked among the top one percent of high schools nationally and to see both schools recognized among Louisiana's best is an outstanding accomplishment," Cole said.
According to the U.S. News Report, 88% of students at Baton Rouge High participate in Advanced Placement coursework and exams, with 381 students enrolled in 12 grade. The report also notes that 32% of students there are economically disadvantaged.
At Liberty, the AP participation rate is 97%, with 283 students in 12 grade. The report says 56% of Liberty's students are economically disadvantaged.

Both schools are among 19 high schools in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. U.S. News rankings are based on student performance in math, reading and science assessments, qualifying scores on college-level exams and graduation rates.
