Annual Barbershop Bash offering free cancer screenings for men this weekend
BATON ROUGE - A free cancer screening event is being held this weekend at Webb's Barbershop, right off Government Street.
The annual Barbershop Bash, hosted in partnership with Mary Bird Perkins, is set for Aug. 22 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The event offers free prostate and colorectal cancer screenings along with food, music and more. Its purpose is to decrease the stigma around getting tested for cancer.
Louisiana has the highest prostate cancer incidence rate in the country at 147 cases per 100,000, according to the National Cancer Institute.
