Accused heroin dealer may be responsible for at least one OD death
BATON ROUGE - A thread of text messages was used to bust an accused heroin dealer who may be responsible for at least one overdose death.
Kevin Davis was arrested late Saturday evening. Authorities believe at least one of the victims he sold drugs to died of an overdose.
Police raided part of a duplex located on Susan Avenue over the weekend. Officers were investigating after three drug-related deaths occurred in just 24 hours.
The victims of those overdoses have not been identified. However, a text message from one of the victims' cell phone led police to a residence looking for Davis.
On Monday, neighbors told News 2's Brett Buffington they saw police show up but didn't want to share any more than that.
According to arrest documents, investigators questioned the victim's sister. The victim's sister told investigators Davis was listed in her sister's phone as "Project." She also told investigators that Davis always had the "good s***," referring to heroin.
After raiding Davis' home, police found more than four grams of heroin, along with morphine and diazepam. Over $400 in cash was also found inside the residence.
