EBRSO looking for Shenandoah vehicle burglars

BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies released photos of three men seen breaking into vehicles recently in the Shenandoah area and asked for the public's help identifying them.

Detectives said the three men parked their cars in the 17100 block of Sharpsburg Avenue the morning of May 15 and walked up and down the street, pulling on vehicle door handles to see if they were locked. Deputies say two of them were armed with handguns.

Homeowner Jason Payment woke up just hours after it happened in his driveway. He said the burglars can have what they want, but leave the violence out of his neighborhood.

"Leave the guns out of it," he said. "If you want stuff take it, I can replace it, but I'm going to do what we have to do to protect ourselves from now on."

Deputies said the men stole items from any unlocked cars. At least six different vehicle burglaries were reported from that night.

EBRSO deputies said the thieves wore hooded sweatshirts, gloves and backpacks and drove into the area in two white four-door sedans.

Investigators asked anyone with information about the thefts or the men responsible to call them at (225) 389-5000.
