BATON ROUGE - The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration will host the 31st National Prescription Drug Take Back Day with collection sites here in the Capitol Region.
More than 4,400 collection sites will be set up across the country.
The agency said collection sites will accept tablets, capsules, patches and other forms of prescription medications. Liquid medications will also be accepted if they are securely sealed in their original containers.
The DEA said collection sites will not take syringes, sharps or illicit drugs. It said removing unneeded, expired and unused prescription medications can help prevent diversion and reduce the risk of accidental poisoning.
Collection sites will be open from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the following locations:
BRPD Headquarters: 9000 Airline Highway
Woman's Hospital: 100 Woman's Way
