After Investigative Unit report, Baton Rouge man arrested for allegedly raping, stabbing woman

BATON ROUGE — A 20-year-old man wanted for attempted murder and rape after a woman says he beat and stabbed her multiple times inside a home on Geronimo Street has been arrested and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.
Police say that, in July, Tyson Wright hit the victim in the head with a gun, beat her and then stabbed her seven or eight times in the chest with a pair of scissors. The woman says he later raped her.
After this, she was treated for serious injuries at a hospital and then moved to another state to live with family. She did not make an in-person statement until recently.
Wright was arrested Tuesday following a WBRZ Investigative Unit report highlighting his extensive criminal history.
He was booked into the parish jail as a fugitive after a warrant was issued for his arrest on Monday for rape, attempted murder, theft and false imprisonment charges.
