BATON ROUGE - A suspect is in custody nearly a week after a man was found lying dead in the middle of his neighborhood over the weekend.

The Baton Rouge Police said the shooting happened around 3:55 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Cedarlane Avenue and Silverest Avenue.

Officers arrived to find Ryan Marlow, 37, in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said Marlow lived on the same street where he was shot.

On Friday, police arrested 32-year-old Bobby Earl for his involvement in the killing.

A witness told detectives that Earl drove to the neighborhood to meet with Marlow and "exchange a car title" at Marlow's home. Earl reportedly stopped his vehicle at the intersection.

The witness said Marlow then drove to meet Earl at the intersection and approached Earl's vehicle on foot. The two  "had a small verbal altercation" before Earl fired multiple shots at Marlow and fled the scene.

Earl was booked on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.

Earl was booked in Jan. 2021 for second-degree murder. According to court records, he was out on bond.
