LIVINGSTON — State Superintendent Dr. Cade Brumley visited Live Oak Elementary to observe classroom instruction and meet with school leaders about teaching strategies and student performance.

Brumley visited five classrooms and later met with faculty and administrators, the school system said. Members of the Louisiana Department of Education’s top administrative team and Board of Elementary and Secondary Education member Ronnie Morris also joined the visit.

Principal Michelle Crochet said the school was chosen as a model for observation and review. She said the school’s culture focuses on not letting circumstances become barriers to learning.

State accountability reports show Live Oak Elementary students have grown over the past six years. The 2026 LEAP results showed increases in the percentages of students performing at the Mastery and Advanced levels, with math up 10 percent, science up 13.4 percent and social studies up 11.4 percent.
