BATON ROUGE — Three Scotlandville Magnet High School students earned national recognition after their research poster proposal was preselected for the Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America Coalition Ideas Fair.

The students worked under the leadership of Health Occupations Students of America advisor Coach LaDonna Washington. They developed a prevention framework led by students and based on data to address substance use challenges in North Baton Rouge.

The students will present at the 37th Annual CADCA National Leadership Forum in February at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland. The forum brings together substance use prevention professionals, researchers, policymakers, community organizations and youth advocates from across the nation to share strategies and strengthen prevention efforts in communities.

Their selection gives them a chance to share their work with national leaders, engage with prevention professionals and take part in conversations about youth advocacy, community health and substance use prevention. The recognition also highlights Scotlandville Magnet High School's Academy of Health Sciences and its focus on careers in healthcare, public health and related fields.
