BATON ROUGE — Football, fall fashion, live music, local shopping and a little spooky ranch. Episode 9 of Positively BR has a little something for everyone.

Host Angelica Butine is talking football with WBRZ’s Hunter McCann, breaking down the Boots on the Bayou lineup, finding deals at a major boutique blowout sale and shining a spotlight on two Baton Rouge natives taking their film to the Louisiana Film Prize.

And because it’s October, there’s even a spooky twist on a grocery store favorite.

Boots, country music and a big weekend in Gonzales

Boots on the Bayou is getting ready to bring two days of country music to Gonzales, and we’re breaking down who’s coming to town.

The festival is set for Oct. 24-25 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center, with Trace Adkins, Justin Moore, Drew Green and Brantley Gilbert among the artists on this year’s lineup.

The weekend will feature live music, food and more, making it a destination for country music fans looking for a full weekend of entertainment.

Tickets and more information are available at BOTBMusic.com. This episode has everything you need to know about food vendors and tickets.

Shop local and save big

If your fall wardrobe needs a refresh, the Boutique Blowout Sale is happening on Sunday, October 4, 2026, at L'Auberge Casino & Hotel Baton Rouge.

So imagine shopping at more than 30 local boutiques under one roof. Jen Gomes joins Angelica to talk about the event and how shoppers can discover local businesses while looking for deals on clothing, accessories, gifts and more.

Shoppers can expect everything from $5 and $10 racks to discounts of up to 75% off, with merchandise available for women, men and children.

General admission is free Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., while VIP ticket holders will be admitted at 9 a.m. VIP guests also receive a custom shopping bag and a glass of champagne for guests 21 and older.

From Baton Rouge to the big screen

Two Baton Rouge natives are taking their creativity to the Louisiana Film Prize with their short film, “Doom Lift.”

Chris Cronin and his puppet co-star (voiced by director David Culota) joined Positively BR to talk about the film, which follows the unlikely pair as they become trapped on a ski lift headed toward their doom.

The horror-comedy was filmed over one weekend at a studio at Loyola University in New Orleans, bringing together local crew members and Loyola film school graduates.

Now, the film is headed to Shreveport for the Louisiana Film Prize, which is set for Oct. 16-17.

The festival gives audiences a chance to see 20 Louisiana-made short films and vote on which film takes home the grand prize.

Viewers can attend screenings in person or purchase a virtual pass to watch from home.

Ranch, but make it spooky

Halloween is making its way into the condiment aisle.

Hidden Valley is giving its classic ranch dressing a spooky makeover with Spooky Ranch, a black version of the popular dressing that comes in a glow-in-the-dark bottle.

The seasonal ranch gets its dark color from fruit juice and cocoa powder while keeping the buttermilk, herbs and spices fans know.

The bottles are selling for about $4 at Walmart while supplies last.

From touchdowns and trends to boots, boutiques and filmmaking, Episode 9 of Positively BR is all about what’s happening around Louisiana this fall.

One Tank Trip: A trip where seeing isn't always believing

Looking for a reason to get out of town?

Angelica heads to New Orleans for a One Tank Trip to the Museum of Illusions, where more than 80 interactive exhibits are designed to challenge the way visitors see the world.

From spinning tunnels and optical illusions to the Infinity Room, the museum puts visitors right in the middle of the experience.

Martha Ropp, who works at the museum, said the experience can be a reminder that our brains don't always tell us exactly what we're seeing.

“There’s something for every brain,” Ropp said.

And if you’re wondering whether you’re actually seeing what you think you’re seeing, Ropp says that’s part of the fun.

“You’ll wonder whether or not you’re in reality.”

The museum combines entertainment with science, giving visitors a chance to explore visual perception while taking plenty of photos along the way.

Chuck Felix, a visitor from Florida, said the interactive exhibits are what make the experience stand out.

“If you really want to experience some exciting illusions, something you obviously don’t see in day-to-day life, this is the place to come,” Felix said.

The Museum of Illusions is open daily in New Orleans. Tickets and more information are available through the museum.
