Landry Kiffin talks new clothing brand and Baton Rouge pop-up

If you're a football fan but aren't quite sure what to wear to the game or out watching with friends, Landry Kiffin has you covered.

Kiffin, daughter of LSU head football coach Lane Kiffin, is launching her own women's clothing collection, Fifth Year, with a collection designed to bring a fresh take to collegiate style.

The idea behind the collection is to give women a way to show off their school spirit without always having to wear oversized logos or traditional college merchandise.

“So my brand is called Fifth Year, and the meaning behind that is meant not just for sorority girls, college girls, but all the women beyond that! That keep coming back to their schools, to those games and want to still show their school spirit, but not necessarily wanting to wear a big LSU logo or their school's logo,” said Kiffin.

Kiffin brought several pieces from the collection to WBRZ, showcasing everything from athletic wear and loungewear to outfits for game day and beyond.

“We have a bunch of loungewear, which is one of my favorites. I love being comfy. That was one of my biggest things, is that I wanted all of our stuff to feel good and comfortable,” Kiffin said.

The collection includes five main colors: red, orange, blue, purple and yellow, making it easy for women to represent different schools.

“Fifth Year is a women's clothing line. We kind of have a little bit of everything. We have activewear, loungewear, some nicer pieces,” said Kiffin.

And the name Fifth Year is about more than just college.

“It doesn't matter what age you are. That's the whole Fifth Year idea. You're always in your fifth year and always a part of your college. It never leaves!” Kiffin said.

Those interested in checking out the collection in person can meet Kiffin at a pop-up event Friday from noon to 4 p.m. at Pura Vida Coffee in Baton Rouge.

The event will also feature other local businesses, with activities ranging from dog adoptions to ear piercings.

“We'll have Fifth Year there, and then we're inviting a bunch of other local businesses like dog adoptions, ear piercings, literally everything,” said Kiffin.

National Nacho Day brings a game day twist

With football season in full swing, there's no better excuse to take game day snacks to the next level.

Friday, Nov. 6, is National Nacho Day, and Angelica is celebrating with a little help from Chef Colt Patin of the Louisiana Culinary Institute. See their recipes here.

Patin joins Angelica in the kitchen to whip up three different takes on the classic game day favorite.

The menu features buffalo chicken nachos, pulled pork nachos and seafood nachos, offering something for every kind of nacho fan.

Whether you're hosting a watch party or looking to switch up your usual game day spread, these recipes bring plenty of flavor to the table.

One Tank Trip: The Sandbar in New Roads

This week's One Tank Trip takes Angelica to The Sandbar, a riverfront hangout along False River in New Roads.

The spot offers a laid-back atmosphere where visitors can enjoy food, drinks and views of the water. It's also a destination for boaters, thanks to its floating dock.

Owner John LaCour says the goal is to create a place where everyone feels welcome.

“This is the Sandbar. It's basically a hangout spot, so whether you're nine months old or 90 years old, it's a spot you can come to enjoy a day off, chill at the lake with cool food, good atmosphere. It's just a fun vibe,” said LaCour.

The floating dock gives boaters another way to visit, adding to the steady flow of people throughout the day.

“But having the floating dock out there, we're able to take almost as many boats as we are cars, and it just keeps the flow of traffic constantly coming through here. Plus, it adds to the atmosphere. Everybody likes to watch the boats pull up throughout the day,” LaCour said.

Local artist surprises Angelica with a portrait

And to highlight the positive in Baton Rouge, one local artists surprises Angelica with a portrait.

Baton Rouge-based artist Tamerick Zachary joins the show with a portrait he drew of Angelica.

A Donaldsonville native, Zachary has been drawing since childhood and says his artistic journey started when he was just five years old.

“I've been drawing since I was five years old, so I have a long history of work that I've been doing for a long period of time,” said Zachary.

His parents noticed his talent early on and helped him explore it through special art programs.

“I started off on a computer, actually. I was doing a lot of shapes and little cartoons. From there, they put me in special art programs,” Zachary said.

Today, he specializes in charcoal and pencil drawings. During the conversation, Zachary also shares how he hopes to encourage others to discover their own talents, explore their creativity and pursue their dreams.
