BATON ROUGE - Baton Rouge Police Detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 36-year-old Baton Rouge man early Sunday morning.

According to BRPD, the shooting happened in the 800 block of Scenic Hwy. around 3:00 a.m.

The victim, Byron Jenkins, was observed in a parking lot suffering from gunshot injuries. Jenkins died on scene, according to BRPD.

Investigators then learned of a second shooting victim, identified as a 23-year-old female. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries as a result of the shooting.
