OXFORD, Mississippi — Officials provided the ages of two Ole Miss students who died, WTVA reported.

The Lafayette County coroner said an 18-year-old male student died on campus at Stewart Hall, and a 20-year-old male student died at an off-campus house.

The names of the students have not been announced out of respect for the families and their privacy.

Ole Miss put out a statement saying that the coroner's office confirmed two student deaths on Tuesday. In its statement, Ole Miss said that "considerable unverified information" about the deaths was circulating on social media and in the community. No further information was provided by the university.

The Lafayette County Metro Narcotics Office issued a statement saying that they are conducting two separate death investigations with no evidence of the deaths being connected, but that "packaged Kratom sold from a retail store was found during both investigations."

"We do not have confirmed information indicating that kratom or any other substance was a contributing factor in either death," the office said.

No other information was immediately available.
