Nicholson Drive bridge closed for emergency repairs
BATON ROUGE - The Department of Transportation and Development made an emergency bridge closure on Nicholson Drive Monday night.
The bridge, located between Dean Lee Drive and Brightside Drive, was closed around Monday as crews make emergency repairs.
The bridge is scheduled to be replaced in early 2018, but a routine inspection found the timber-supported bridge has severe deterioration in most of its substructure, prompting the sudden closure.
DOTD says it's looking to do the necessary repairs and keep the bridge in service until it is replaced.

Drivers traveling from St. Gabriel should use Bluebonnet Boulevard to detour onto Burbank. Those traveling from the direction of LSU's campus should use either Lee or Nicholson to detour onto Burbank.
