Baton Rouge students test coding and teamwork skills at inaugural Boulevard Code-Off
BATON ROUGE —Baton Rouge students put their skills to the test at a coding competition at Twin Oaks Elementary on Saturday.
The inaugural Boulevard Code-Off for 4th- and 5th-grade students across the East Baton Rouge Parish School System saw students compete in a variety of coding challenges, including an individual competition for 4th graders using CodeAI to complete assigned challenges.
The competition was designed to challenge students to think, create and problem-solve while demonstrating skills in coding, engineering, creativity and teamwork.
As part of the competition, 5th grade students competed in teams of two to build and program a LEGO-based creation to accomplish an assigned mission.
Participating students explained how their code worked, described their choices, demonstrated their solutions and answered questions from judges.
