BATON ROUGE— In the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, LSU tied for No. 202, dropping 33 ranks from its position last year.

The rankings evaluate institutions based on graduation rates, faculty resources, financial resources, student outcomes and academic reputation among other factors. LSU’s ranking places the university in the bottom half of the national universities list.

LSU tied with five other universities, including Ohio State University. Compared to SEC schools, LSU was ranked above No. 208 Mississippi State University and No. 376 University of Arkansas. Last year, LSU ranked No. 169, which tied the school with the University of Mississippi.

However, LSU ranked No. 106 on this year’s list among public universities. These results come as LSU continues its efforts to expand its research and strengthen its standing among major research universities.
