PRAIRIEVILLE - I-10 eastbound at Bluff Road is currently blocked from a crash as fire officials work to free people trapped in the wreckage.

The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office said that the shutdown resulted from "a multi-vehicle accident with one vehicle on fire." Emergency officials say that four vehicles are involved, with one person taken to the hospital in critical condition and another dead.

The Prairieville Fire Department is currently working the crash, with St. George fire officials assisting. Three ambulances are on scene.
