ADDIS — The mother of a 7-year-old girl who died in Addis, alongside a man also accused in her death, both pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and obstruction of justice charges in court on Wednesday.

Bryonne Dorsey, 31, and Christopher Butler, 34, were indicted in August in connection with the death of 7-year-old Paris Williams, who died of multiple blunt force injuries.

According to Addis Police, investigators initially believed Williams died after a dresser fell on her. Investigators now believe the crime scene was manipulated.

Later, investigators said that Dorsey and Butler had a domestic altercation on July 1, with dispatchers claiming to have heard fighting in the background during an initial 911 call from Dorsey's home that evening. After a later call, police found the child unresponsive and Dorsey with facial injuries.

Williams allegedly suffered extensive injuries, including head and brain injuries, injuries to her neck and back, broken ribs, a lacerated kidney and liver, along with other serious injuries.
