Five arrested in murder of man found in Hammond's Villa West

HAMMOND – The Hammond Police Department has arrested five people in the murder of a 25-year-old man found shot in the street on Friday.

The five people arrested are 18-year-old Jordan Cyprian, 18-year-old Eric Newman, 19-year-old Sabrina Kemp, 18-year-old Jamonte Felder and a juvenile.

Cyprian, Newman and the juvenile have been charged with first degree murder, armed robbery and obstruction of justice. Kemp and Felder have been charged with obstruction of justice.

Police said that 25-year-old Stephen Vance was found shot in the street on Rue Cannes in the Villa West neighborhood. He later died at the hospital.

According to Hammond Police Chief James Stewart, the murder was a result of a carjacking.
