SORRENTO- Sorrento Fire Department is responding to a fire inside a rail car Tuesday just before noon.

According to authorities, a piece of equipment that puts the rail tie downs caught on fire where a rail car was.

The rail car is on Highway 22 between 44 and 70 south Sorrento behind Ormet, according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office.

According to authorities, the rail car is not flaming, but there is heavy smoke.

There are no reported evacuations and Haz Mat was not needed at the scene.

Ascension Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness team was dispatched to take a look at the scene and make any determinations about any further steps to be taken, however according to authorities, the situation is not serious.

No further information has been released at the time of this post.
