Deputies shot at armed robbery suspect; manhunt still underway
BATON ROUGE - Deputies say a manhunt is currently underway for the man responsible for an early morning armed robbery at a Bluebonnet Boulevard gas station.
According to EBRSO, around 5 a.m. Friday morning, a masked gunman came into the Valero gas station at the corner of Burbank Drive and Bluebonnet Blvd and held up two clerks at gunpoint. When EBRSO arrived at the scene, the robber turned the gun to deputies prompting them to open fire.
The suspect, described as a black man wearing a blue or gray hoodie, was able to flee out the back of the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Deputies set up a perimeter and began searching the surrounding areas throughout the day. The search continued well into the afternoon.
EBRSO says that the store clerks were not hurt and there is no indication that the robber was struck by the deputies' gunfire.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact EBRSO at 225-389-5000.
