COATZACOALCOS, Mexico - Mexico's state oil company has raised the death toll from an explosion at a petrochemical plant to 24.

Petroleos Mexicanos had reported 13 deaths earlier in the day.

Pemex says 19 other people injured in Wednesday afternoon's blast remain hospitalized. Thirteen are in serious condition.

The explosion happened in the industrial port city of Coatzacoalcos on Mexico's southern Gulf coast.
