Convicted felon booked in string of Gardere muggings

BATON ROUGE - Deputies have arrested a man accused in "numerous" armed robberies targeting victims in the Gardere area.

According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, the attacks were reported around mid-December. The most recent robbery had been reported Dec. 17 on Jade Avenue.

The victims told investigators they had been sitting in their vehicle when two men approached them armed with handguns. The victims said the pair of attackers pulled them out of the vehicle and demanded their cash, phones and wallets. After taking the victims' personal belongings, the gunmen struck both vicitms in the head with the weapons.

The victims were later able to identify Demetre Rosenberger as one of the suspects in the robberies. He was arrested Tuesday after deputies found marijuana and an illegally-owned firearm in his car. A woman, identified as Ebony Rosenberger, was also arrested.

At the time of the arrests, the suspects had four children in his backseat ranging in age from 2 to 13 years old.

Demetre was booked on marijuana possession, using drugs in the presence of minors, felon in possession of a firearm, armed robbery and aggravated second-degree battery. 

Ebony was charged with possession of marijuana and illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a minor.

There is no word on whether the second gunman has been identified at this time.
